About us

We are Intervac members in Athens, Greece. As it happens, we are also the agents for Intervac in Greece.

We are a married couple, born 1964 (Stathis) and 1972 (Maria). We have no children or pets and we do not smoke. Stathis is a Lawyer and Maria a Computer Scientist.

We have been exchanging houses for many years now and you can read about some of our more recent experiences at http://stamar2005.blogspot.com

About our house

The house we offer is a two-floors apartment of about 115 m2. It is on the 4th and 5th floors of a small apartment block (4 apartments). The apartment is fully equipped and can host easily 4 persons. The apartment has three balconies and the one in front offers you a great and unobstructed view of Athens.

About Athens

Athens is a city of many interesting sights (have a look at http://www.cityofathens.gr/portal/site/AthensPortalEN/ ) -and we're not only talking about the famous Acropolis! There are a lot of things to do and places to go in Athens the surroundings and nearby islands. We'd be glad to be of help with suggestions, answers and information to facilitate your visit and will send you pamphlets, maps etc.

About Maroussi

As our house is actually in Maroussi (or Amaroussion) (www.maroussi.gr ,in greek only), a suburb of about 70,000 inhabitants situated 10,5 kms from Athens downtown, at an altitude of 230 m, we'd like to give you some more information about it.

Staying in Maroussi offers you the advantage of enjoying a better and more peaceful environment with tree lined streets, while still being near the city and all the sights:

Maroussi is connected by metro with the city center (14 stops or about 28 minutes – check http://www.isap.gr/index.asp ). Eight more stops will bring you to the port of Piraeus, starting point for ships to the islands of the Saronic Gulf, the Cyclades, Crete etc. The metro station is a 5 minutes walk from our house, as is the city shopping centre. Maroussi is also serviced by the suburban rail ('Neratziotissa' stop - check http://www.proastiakos.gr/en/ ) which will take you to and from the airport in less than 25' and from or to the city centre in under 15'.

You can easily access all interesting sites of Athens and even use the motorway (Attiki Odos: exits 9, 10 or 11 - check http://www.attikiodos.gr/attiki.asp?catid=1959 ) that will take you to and from the airport and out of Athens.

In addition, Maroussi offers its own attractions including museums of Natural History, Folk Art, Modern Art, Shadows Theatre and a music and theatre festival in the summer. By the way, many of the Athens 2004 Olympic sports (including track and field and swimming) were held at the Athens Olympic Stadium which is in Maroussi… Finally, you might have heard of the book ‘the Colossus of Maroussi’ by Henry Miller…
