All widgets plus the quicklaunch frames and the custom menus keep our desktop in order! 3d effects (i.e. transparency), compositing, indexing etc. Window settings remembered, initially applied or "forced"! Kernel 2.6.29 comes with the all new EXT4 filesystem!
 Konqueror multiple views. The Kde4 krunner minimal design adds even more to the desktop functionality. Called by the Alt-F2 shortcut can search for executables, recent documents and applications, perform calculations and conversions queries filesystem tree and so on!

 Windows 7! 3d effects, gadjets, recent file - program shortcut intergration, tracking - indexing, smart menus, user account control and file versioning system! Network topology discovery, easy network access-share! Plug and play driver search is enhanced via Windows update!

 Sun Opensolaris with Gnome desktop and Compiz Window Manager! Journalized Raid & versioning ZFS filesystem. Disk snapshots, indexing, full desktop capabilities and open source repository! This ran for real and later as a virtual guest to test online updating.
KPackage XP can catch up with some 3rd party enhancements like gadjets and MS Powertoy addons! Gadjets, multiple desktops and custom menus and even transparency, are not that hard to incorporate! K man view Couldn't leave the MS Powertoy XPDesktop Management addon behind! Besides the easy desktop selection, the "plugin" presents a Desktop overview with almost one click!



Kde4 operating in 2 screen mode This is my latest! Kde 4 operating with 2 monitors forms a bigger 2-screen desktop with full screen independence, traversing screens capability, specific window settings, icon positioning memory for every resolution, separate wallpapers and widgets!  Windows7 operating 2 monitors. Positioning memory, gadgets, keyboard shortcut enhancements. Dual monitor in Windows 7 supports extending the desktop with either monitor as "main", duplicating the desktop on both monitors (cloning the same screen), enabling or disabling either of them and finally remembering the setting on next reboot! Eve Online Full Screen and VLC full screen on 2 monitors!
 Windows7, Eve Online client and VLC Media Player operating on 2 monitors each in full screen! While full screen mode respecting 2 screens is common for image and video players, its impressive to find a game able to do so keeping the second screen enabled! The 448m long Execuror class Gallente cruiser flies side by side with the 289m Consitution class Star Cruiser, famous to all of us as "USS Enterprise"! Image scaled.
