Kefalonia is the
largest of the Ionian Islands. Kefalonia offers superb sandy beaches, fertile
Ionian landscape, majestic Mt Ainos (1,628mtrs)
with it's National Park.
One of the best beaches in
Greece is the stunning white Blue Flag beach of Myrtos, featured in the film
`Captain Correlli's Mandolin`
There are picture
postcard fishing villages like Fiscardo and Assos scattered all over the
island. It is rumoured that there are 365 villages on the island one for
every day of the year.
Other popular beauty
spots include Drogarati Cave with it's stalactites and stalagmites. At Melisani
there is the underground cave-lake. The lake is fed from salt sea
water, the entry point being at the water wheel in Argostoli.
After several days the water emerges again at Melisani as fresh water.
The magical sunsets of Kefalonia will make you wish
you could stay forever.
The waters around Kefalonia are a beautiful
azure blue and one of the nicest ways to enjoy it is on board the glass bottom
boat which sails daily from Argostoli, see for yourself the bottle nosed
dolphins, turtles, Mediterranean sea life and finish the day with a beach barbeque
on one of the sandy beaches.
Here we
have some guests
enjoying themselves on the beach - part of the day on the glass bottom
boat.
