FotoArchive is being developed and distributed freely in memory of Nikola Tesla (1856-1943).
Nikola Tesla is one of those unselfish benefactors of humanity who are generally unknown to the wider public. He was an inventor and an educated engineer (Austrian Polytechnic School at Graz). He invented the AC motor in 1887 (introduced AC electricity to our everyday life), the tesla coil in 1891 (neon, fluorescent light, x-rays), the radio between 1895-1900 (before G. Marconni), and the remote control in 1898 (wireless communications). However, he was awarded NO Nobel Prize (G. Marconni received it in 1911 for the radio) and the US Patent Office recognized his patents only in 1948, after his death.
He was born in the Balkan area of Lika and he was the son of a Serbian Greek Orthodox priest. His mother was interested in home appliances and had actually invented a mechanical eggbeater.
Nikola Tesla designed or described apparatuses that were built and used years after his death. He designed a high speed turbine and a vertical takeoff airplane while he described the robot, global wireless communications, and the radar. He was also the first scientist who received radio waves from outer space.
Some of his inventions and ideas were so far ahead of its time that those who observed them or read about them could not imagine their practical applications.
